Obi-Wan Kenobi: Chancellor. Anakin Skywalker: Are you all right? Chancellor Palpatine: Count Dooku. Obi-Wan: This time, we'll do it together. Anakin: I was about to say that. Palpatine: Get help. You're no match for him; he's a Sith Lord. Obi-Wan: [turns and smiles] Chancellor Palpatine, Sith Lords are our speciality. Count Dooku: Your swords, please. We don't want to make a mess of things in front of the Chancellor. Obi-Wan: You won't get away this time, Dooku. Dooku: I've been looking forward to this. Anakin: My powers have doubled since the last time we met, Count. Dooku: Good. Twice the pride, double the fall.

General Grievous: Ah, yes. The negotiator. General Kenobi. We've been waiting for you. Battle Droid: Excuse me. Grievous: That wasn't much of a rescue. [snatches Anakin and Obi-Wan's lightsabers] Battle Droid: You're welcome. Grievous: And... [coughs] ...Anakin Skywalker. I was expecting someone of your reputation to be a little... older. [wheezes] Anakin: General Grievous. You're shorter than I expected. Grievous: [coughs] Jedi scum. Obi-Wan: We have a job to do, Anakin; try not to upset him. Grievous: Your lightsabers will make a fine addition to my collection. Obi-Wan: Not this time. And this time, you won't escape.

Palpatine: Remember back to your early teachings. "All who gain power are afraid to lose it." Even the Jedi. Anakin: The Jedi use their power for good. Palpatine: Good is a point of view, Anakin. The Sith and the Jedi are similar in almost every way, including their quest for greater power. Anakin: The Sith rely on their passion for their strength. They think inwards, only about themselves. Palpatine: And the Jedi don't? Anakin: The Jedi are selfless. They only care about others.

Palpatine: Did you ever hear the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise? Anakin: No. Palpatine: I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith so powerful and so wise, he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create... life. He had such a knowledge of the dark side, he could even keep the ones he cared about... from dying. Anakin: He could actually... save people from death? Palpatine: The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. Anakin: What happened to him? Palpatine: He became so powerful, the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power... which, eventually of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death... but not himself. Anakin: Is it possible to learn this power? Palpatine: Not from a Jedi.

Mace: I sense a plot to destroy the Jedi. The dark side of the Force surrounds the Chancellor. Ki-Adi-Mundi: If he does not give up his emergency powers after the destruction of Grievous, then he should be removed from office. Mace: The Jedi Council would have to take control of the Senate in order to ensure a peaceful transition. Yoda: To a dark place, this line of thought will carry us. Hmm. Great care, we must take.

Palpatine: Master Windu. I take it General Grievous has been destroyed, then. I must say, you're here sooner than I expected. Mace Windu: In the name of the Galactic Senate of the Republic, you're under arrest, Chancellor. [activates his lightsaber, and Agen Kolar, Kit Fisto and Saesee Tiin activate their own lightsabers] Palpatine: Are you threatening me, Master Jedi? Mace: The Senate will decide your fate. Palpatine: I am the Senate! Mace: Not yet. Palpatine: [stands up and a lightsaber suddenly flies out of his robe and right into his hand] It's treason, then. [activates his lightsaber and engages Mace Windu, Agen Kolar, Saesee Tiin and Kit Fisto in a fierce fight]
